Practical workplace advice for neurodivergent and cognitive needs.

I provide occupational therapy assessments for employees who may be experiencing workplace difficulties linked to ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, cognitive overload, fatigue, mental health difficulties, acquired cognitive changes or long term health conditions.

The focus is not on labelling the person. The focus is on understanding how cognitive and neurodivergent differences affect day to day work and what practical support may help.

An assessment may explore attention, concentration, memory, processing speed, organisation, planning, prioritisation, task initiation, task completion, emotional regulation, sensory processing, communication, workload management and the impact of interruptions or competing demands.

This can help identify specific areas of difficulty while keeping the focus on practical workplace support rather than diagnosis.

Recommendations may include structured supervision, written instructions, visual prompts, task management systems, protected focus time, changes to communication, workload planning, assistive technology, environmental adaptations, pacing strategies and review arrangements.

The aim is to help the employee work in a way that is more manageable, effective and sustainable, while helping managers understand what support may be reasonable and practical.
